All Fancy-cut diamonds, including Princess, Heart and indeed Asscher cut diamonds are generally more seldom seen which adds to their rarity and uniqueness, making them perfect for those who are looking for a non-traditional piece.

The Asscher-Cut is named after Joseph Asscher, who patented the cut in 1902. The cut became popular during the art deco period but lost popularity during World War 2 when the patent ran out and jewellers attempted in vain to replicate the cut. In the 1980’s the Asscher Diamond Co. were granted a royal title by Queen Juliana of the Netherlands. In 2001, Joseph Asschers grandchildren officially named the cut ‘The Royal Asscher Cut’.
